Kalmar: home form provides a major source of confidence

After securing promotion back to the Allsvenskan with a second-place finish in the Superettan, Kalmar’s main objective this season is to avoid relegation. Toni Koskela’s team suffered a 2-0 defeat to Hammarby in their latest league outing, although they had previously started July with an impressive 3-0 victory over Örgryte.

Malmö: winning streak restores hopes of a title challenge

Malmö arrive in confident mood after securing three consecutive victories, including a dominant 4-0 win over Göteborg last time out. Following a difficult spell that saw them lose three matches in a row, the reigning giants have responded strongly and reduced the gap to third place to just two points.

Kalmar’s defense will have to find a way to contain Erik Botheim, who has been in outstanding form with 14 goals in 19 appearances this season. Alongside him, Sead Haksabanovic provides another major attacking threat with seven goals across all competitions. However, Malmö’s depth has been tested by injuries to Anders Christiansen and Pontus Jansson.
